This short film was our entry into the Macau International Microfilm Festival in 2014. We had only 48 hours to write, direct and edit a video based on the motif of “love beautiful Macau”. With all the sites and sounds of the vibrant and bustling city streets, the almost desolate and never ending apartment blocks, and the dauntingly green and vast mountains adjacent to it’s buildings, the city of Macau is incredibly dynamic. But, knowing that visuals alone wouldn’t win us the prize we developed an intriguing plot line and immediately began thinking about our sound production.
Everyone loves a good romance story so we wanted to incorporate a love interest but we also wanted it to be obscure enough to entertain the masses. Enter, our space man. Lost in this wild city, he is desperately making his way to the girl who patiently lights candles for him in the darkness. And so, in just under 48 hours we put this little film together and managed to win bronze, we couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out.
